Philips 834A radio

Geschreven door Mike Horne op 21. Aug 2005 13:59:33:

Hi. I am in the process of gradually restoring my Philips 834A Superinductance tube radio (with Mullard tubes). I have found that the aperiodic r.f transformer (housed in a small round aperture near the second r.f tube) has changed value . The primary winding should be 17.5 ohms d.c (according to the "Trader" service sheet for this model), but has gone up to nearly 50 ohms d.c. The primary winding "feeds" the anode or plate of the second r.f amplifier tube. The value of the secondary winding (that is connected to the radio and phono jack sockets) also is quite different to that of the service data. Does anyone have a spare aperiodic r.f transformer from a scrap set for the Philips 834A ? I have not checked the coils that are housed in the vertical and horizontal copper coloured cans yet, so I may need spares for these in the future, if the values have changed greatly.
I have shorted out the radio jack socket (normally "open" until a jack plug is inserted in its socket), but no r.f signals as such. I do not have such a jackplug for the "job", and the one that I have obtained is too thin in diameter for the application.
If anyone can help, please let me know ?
Best regards
Mike Horne, Leeds, U.K
