Need help with repair of HMV Radio in Den Haag (Techniek Radio/TV)
door richardhall, 03.07.2008, 07:45 (5986 dagen geleden)
Hello
I have a HMV radio that I just received from Australia from my Father. It was damaged during the shipping.
I live in Den Haag
Is there anyone that can make a new dial glass. The old one is broken in 2 places but complete and could be reproduced.
Do any of you know a good woodwork - restoration company or person that could repair and re-varnish the wooden cabinet of this radio.
Thanks
Richard

Forummember, Ben Dijkman is a dialglas reproduction specialist. Maybe you can ask him for some information.

Perhaps you can glue it with transparant two-component glue.

Hi,
Some members of this forum have made good results in reproducing a dial.
They made a scan of the dial, did some or a lot of additional paintwork on it using a good photoshop program and then printed it on a self adhesive see through sheet.
Since your dial is in color this should be no problem. The self adhesive sheet you mount to a piece of framing glass (2mm thick) and you have a new dial.
I did this once myself and was pleased with the results. But it takes time to make the adjustments to the scan creating the perfect size and looks for the reproduction print. And I know, writing this down it sounds quite simple but it will probably take more time than you think at this moment before you are satisfied with the result.
Good luck!

Ramon Pool

Hello Everyone
Thanks for all your advice. I will post photos when this project is finished. I am sure that you agree this Radio is worth saving, especially as it is a HMV Australia Model and I am sure there are none of these in The Netherlands
