Phillips FX631A Console Radio (Techniek Radio/TV)

Looking for a replacement dial for the subject radio.
Could also use a good photo of the radio dial if a replacement is not available. I am restoring this radio but the dial is missing some key elements.

Thanks to everyone.

Maurice,

Just opened your info and it is much appreciated. What I need, however, is an actual photo of the dial face in order to identify the graduations and reproduce on glass a replacement dial. Would you have anything like that?

Looks like that the chassis is of an HX553A or HX543A

If it is the same dial I can give you a good picture.
Take out your chassis and look at the small end (left side or right side) of the dial-glass.
Should be a mark that indicate the type of dial.

Look at my site f.i.

Here is the photo of my dial. I cannot find a match and wonder if the dial was just used on USA Radios.

indeed a USA scale it is.
At the max left middle there is indeed a special what not to be seen on a HX543A or HX553A scale.

There are posabilyties to reproduce sudge a "simple" dial.

Take out the dial, carefully.

Make a scan on a flatbat-scanner.
Or a pretty good picture with a cam.

Than with a good picture programm f.i. "paintshop" fix the dial by hand.
Doing so by copying parts, characters etc. and retouch the dial.

If that is ok and you have now a new masker you can let it print out on a new
glass.
There are glass-print methodes to carry out that work.

Contact f.i. "Ben Dijkman" http://www.bendijkman.nl/
He has done that before.

Mark; 1 dial is some what expencive.

Maurice,

Thanks for the information. The quick sample is great however I need some help for the MW numbers. I have a source in the US to recreate the dial but, as you can see, some of the numbers are missing on that one band.

The proper example of the scale, how it looks like, needs to be found in the USA. It is just where the set differs from European sets. The same console might have been for sale here, but with a complete different scale.

So despite the fact it is a Philips of Holland product, others samples of the scale or even complete sets must be in your area, maybe try a US vintage radio board.

Differences between US and Europe concerning broadcast receivers are

FM: runs to 100 or 104 Mhz on vintage sets in Europe, always 108 in the US. (starts at 88, your set starts at 87.5 and gives you TV channel A6 sound)
SW: in Europe mostly only one band, 5.9 - about 17 Mhz.
MW: often indicated in meters in Europe, includes a bandplan with stationnames
LW, not in US, but included in Europe

Indeed your AM (we would say Medium wave) indication is blurred.
The far right must be 5.4 the far left probably 16. This is x 100 kHz.
Wonder if your set does benefits from the extra wide bandwith used by any AM stations in the US.
In the US we have 10 kHz intervals on the AM band, in Europe 9 kHz. (but is no problem for vintage analogue sets)

Thanks for information. I did attempt to find this info in the US but without success. I will take your suggestion and use the marking for the MW as you detailed in your reply.
