Radio sets of Royal families (Techniek Overig)

Europe was the centre of radio invention and implementation. It also had several Royal families across the geography.

Does anyone know what radio set models did the Royal families use for their own usage?
Did they also simply buy the Superhet radio sets the general public used to buy?
Or Did the Royal families have high quality superbly finished radio sets?

Very little information is available anywhere as to what radio the Rich and Royals used. Eg. Even I do not know what was the radio model used by our first Prime Minister Shri Jawaharlal Nehru or Smt Indira Gandhi. I simply dont know nor anyone has that information.

Thus, I want to know about the radios used by the Royal families in Europe, if at all anyone on the forum knows about it.

Hallo

Two years ago we had a discussion about a peculiar radio of an unknown make.

Because of the shiny copper shielded coils our first thought was, perhaps "Philips" or "Schaper"?

To keep the story short, it turned out to be a custom designed radio especially made for the KING of DENMARK in 1932.
It was manufactured by the Radio Company M.P.Pedersen in the same country.

The source of this informations is:
Bjarne Nielsen, Ringsted Radiomuseum.

Kind regards, Wolfgang

That is a quite big tuning gang condenser out there? Is that a TRF (Tuned Radio Frequency) design?

Unfortunately, no technical details are known....

Your guess is as good as mine....

In general, this info is considered to belong to the private life of the royal families
Which -at least in the Netherlands- is being shielded and protected as much as possible
Shopkeepers entitled to call themselves 'purveyor to the Royal Household' usually don't
mention details about the royal purchases

Princess Juliana acquired in 1925 a NSF W1 radio set, mounted in a special made and luxurious wooden cabinet.

Dutch Queen Wilhelmina is also present during the demonstration of her daughter's radio set by NSF CEO Dubois. Wilhelmina is very interested. The last time that she enjoyed a radio transmission was in 1918 at the Radio Exposition in the Zoo in The Hague.

In 1928 the Royal set was renewed by NSF. The NSF W1 was returned to the NSF factories in Hilversum, and the radio chassis was replaced by a modern NSF 4 chassis and installed again in the Royal Palace.
