Volume control for B6CA37A Radio (Techniek Radio/TV)

door Rohit menon, 17.02.2009, 13:59 (5757 dagen geleden)

Hi..

This is Rohit from India. I am having a Philips B6CA37A Radio.

The volume control potentiometer has gone bad in my radio.

The correct value for the volume control is 1.7M ohms + 0.5M ohms.

Is this volume control available anywhere?. They are not available here in India. I need some guidance. Could anyone give me some guidance?.

Regards. Rohit

Hello Rohit,

Should it not be 0.4M + 1.6M? That is quite a common value in Philips tube radio's.

In the schematics there is nowhere a 0.5M + 1.7M to be found, so perhaps someone replaced it already?

Quite a special radio (but possibly more common in the tropics?). No FM, and a lot of shortwave bands.
Also the output stage and loudspeakers are different from what you normally expect from a radio. 800 Ohm and 5 Ohm via a special output transformer.

Best regards,

Matthias

Hi Matthias,

Thank you for your kind reply.

Do you have any idea where these volume controls are available.

I have a friend staying in Eindhoven. Is it available anywhere nearby?.

Regards. Rohit

Maybe you have a picture or dimensions of the potentiometer, so we can see in what other radio's it is used. It's probably used in other radio's too...

Hello Rohit,

It probably is not available for new in a shop, but I have no doubt that one of the forum members has a new one somewhere in their storage box.

As Peter already said, it is probably the same as in other radio's. I think the same potentio meter is used in the B4X23A and other series of small Plano's.

You also might try Jan Post in Australia. He happens to have the most incredible things in stock.

Best regards,

Matthias
