Searching on rmorg for 234A comes up with parallel models branded Aristona, NSF and Siera. They don't have an entry on the Mediator example either, so it's likely at least somewhat rare.

Usually Mediator was the brand for the Swiss home market, but since the M234A not on rmorg (which I consider reasonably complete on Swiss models) but found by you in southern Europe, I speculate that in this case it might have been used as a more general export brand in addition to the more usual Siera brand (which is relatively common in Portugal, I think?).

In any case, it was made by Philips Leuven, probably one of the largest Philips radio factories for bulk production by then.
