Dear Pandu,

Basicly it is possible to replace the EBF80 with the EBF89 tube, however, besides the changes needed with the cathode and screen 2 resistor, the AGC stucture as well as the transconductance values are different. In this case a strong radio signal could lead into overload of the IF circuit and also in distortion. Look at the datasheets of both tubes and make appropiate changes if you have no spare EBF80 tube.
