RFT Saalburg 5170C radio (Techniek Radio/TV)

door mike horne, 28.02.2010, 19:59 (5382 dagen geleden)

Hi. I have managed to repair my Saalburg 5170C radio (many thanks for the help of those people that helped me on this forum). The fault of the transformer fuse "blowing", was due to a fault on the heater pins on the EM84 valve shorting. There was also a problem with the UKW band being on low volume - this was resolved due to a dry solder joint on the circuit board.
With reference to Harry's 5170C radio on this forum, mine also had problems with the ferrite aerial falling off the gantry. I managed to support it by tying cable ties around it. Unfortunately, it had ruined the tuning capacitor and the l.w aerial coil, I had to get a replacement tuning gang, but I am still after an original l.w coil for this set. Can anyone help, please ?
Was there a Saalburg radio made with Radio Noordzee (REM EILAND) on the dial ?

The only answer I can give is that as far as I know Radio Noordzee was considered illegal and therefore its name never appeared on any dial. The same goes for radio Veronica and other 'pirate broadcasting'
About the spares you need I can only see if I can help you when you present a picture

Jaap

Edit: One interesting factor about this radio is that it features Radio Veronica on its dial (192mtrs m.w). This brings back many memories from that era for me.

Edit1: Do I need to translate ?

Edit2: (For Mike) Maybe your former collegue Jules Gelijck knows more
about this particular subject ?

I have seen Radio Veronica and Noordzee on more than one radio that was produced in East Germany for export to the West.

See a picture that I made from the dial glass.

Hoi Matthias.

Geweldig. Nooit geweten.

http://verdijk.info/tips-en-trucs/zenderschalen/

Blijkt e.e.a. in te staan over Veronica/Noordzee/Caroline op één schaal.

En de mogelijke beweegredenen daarvoor.

Kwam er pas via Google achter.

Fine picture, but this is the Radio Noordzee from the Mebo 2 ship, early 70-ies. RNI or the Dutch service Radio Noordzee started somewhere 1971, and lasted until 1974.

The OP meant the Radio Noordze from the REM island, indeed it is very confusing, but there has been TWO Radio Noordzee's, and nothing to do with each other. Also on different wavelengths.
The REM Island Radio Noordzee was in 1964, and was linked to the TV station TV Noordzee, indeed from a platform, called the REM Island.
However this Noordzee only was on air for a couple of months, so I guess you wil finds no Radioos with THIS Noordzee on the dial.

Hi all,

This statement about the absence of pirate names on radio scales is not true, there where some radio's with Radio Caroline and Radio Veronica printed on the dial. I have a couple of Erres portables, with those names printed on the dial.
Also i have a DDR tuberadio for sale right now which has Radio Veronica printed left on the dial.

I will upload pictures on the for sale section,

Best regards,

Nico den Haak.

And these radioos were imported by the retailers that also supported and financed Veronica.
Actually, they launched the sttaion to increase their sales, since the official Hilversum radio was quite boring.
