Bx560A (Algemeen)

door Pandu Rajan @, 18.04.2023, 12:07 (375 dagen geleden)

Dear friends.
The above set was a 3 band set whereas the tropical set BX565A was a 5 band set. Yesterday in the radio museum I saw the photo of BX560A with a 4 band dial. Did Philips make this set with 4 bands? Was the model no same or different?

Dear Mr. Rajan,

do you refer to this dial ? (See the attached picture). it seems that the 4th wavelength is a bandspread. See the red arrows.

Best regards,
Pim.

P.S: maybe this particular dial not intended for the Philips BX560A and comes from another type of radio. But I am not sure, just guessing.

Dial Philips BX560A

door Maurice ⌂ @, Dordrecht, 18.04.2023, 17:53 (374 dagen geleden) @ hoedendoosch

Its a Dial from an other Radio.
As the corners are very sharp and square ,as also the glass is very thin.
So as all up stand dail glasses are very thick and rounded edges and round polished, smooth along the
long edges.

So a look a like dial glass.
Beware of all info at RMorg is not 100%.

You can make a note at RMorg to point out the wrong dial glass.
And if owner ever be know to exist he has to pull out the dial glass and look if he can find
the type number on that dial, as any dial has.

This is my scan BX560A dial glass. Any other shape is wrong.

Dial Philips BX560A

door Pandu Rajan @, 19.04.2023, 11:19 (374 dagen geleden) @ Maurice

Dear mr. Maurice

Thanks for you reply. Yes I also think the dial is from some other set. Because BX560A was a 3 band set. 4 band Radios sets with 25m and 30m band spread were manufactured only after 1952. So there is no chance that such a dial was there in 1946. Philips India also manufactured radio sets from 1955 to 1962 with one band having 25m- 30m band spread. They were all 4 band sets. This includes the set B5CA66A/67A and B5CA86A and B5CA97A. The last two with EL86/EL84 push pull output stage.

Yes that is the photo of the dial. I think it is not the original dial. Someone has put dial of other radio set.

This could be the answer to your question.
http://www.vintagephilipsradio.co.za/bx565a.htm
In many overseas models Philips canceled Long Wave and added an extra Short Wave band instead.

Dear mr castafiore.
This was the BX565A and not BX560A.
