Hi John. Many thanks for your reply & photos. I think that the two end loops go to the gang drum - one to a lug on the drum, and the other to one end of the spring. The other loop seems to fit in a slot on a shaft - the other end of that shaft is a drum which is connected to the pointer drive cord. It's how it was assembled was the problem - the number of turns & direction, and in what position the gang drum opening should be at at max capacitance. The gang drum had been damaged on mine. Luckily I managed to obtain some spares from someone in the U.K.
I was told once that there was a Barclay radio for sale on Ebay U.K site. I did make a reasonable bid for it, but was otbid by £1 at the last minute !
What I am saying is, that if I was able to have got it, I would be able to have studied the physical layout of the gang drive cord.
E.I have denied having made the Barclay radio, and yet their trade mark is all inside the radio itself. The problem is that the recent turmoil in the former Yugoslavia probably also destroyed archive data on the radio industry that E.I once had ! I was informed that the Barclay set is the equivalent of E.I model RR230C. I also was informed that there once was a firm in the U.K called Barclay that made radios. It is a mystery how this set was shipped to the U.K.
Best regards
Mike
