Hello Mike.
I hope these pictures speak for themselves.

There is just 1 wire used in a 470A from the varco to (pull) the pointerunit.
It the pointerunit you can see a spring.
The end of the spring 'clicks" itselves in a very little hoak/hole at the back of the dialglass unit behind the pointerunit, so you cannot see it if the pointerunit is still on.

That spring needs several (about 5) pre-scarves (to build up some pre-force)
before you connect the wire to it .
This pre-force is needed to let wind-up the wire back onn the pointerunit again when the varco losens/turns-off the wire..

If you turn the pointerunit to the correct direction, the spring graps onn the hoak iteselves.
If you turn the wrong direction, the spring never graps onn .

So in fact it's a very beautifull, simple and easy wire system.
In fact this system is that easy, that it's hard to figure it out :-D
