Hi Fred. Many thanks for your reply. I have found one wire, but the other is a (black) chassis connecting wire that is under chassis, but has come away from its other end. It is situated to the bottom right hand side of the under chassis ( when front of set & knobs are pointed upright). I have a download of the excellent schematic from the site that you mentioned, but it does not show the chassis component layout with regards to the schematic. It took a while to locate the metal rectifier, which I found was located behind the tuning scale.
With regards to the location of the missing spring on the F-Ant switch, I might just "hard wire" the contacts on the switch so that it is permanently set to ferrite aerial and not external.
